It’s now been 14 weeks since Ava joined us and we became a family of 4. It’s been a bit hectic but everything is going amazing.
In the new year we moved house, Ava was just 7 weeks old. Now, this sounds like the definition of hell but I can assure you everything went a lot more smoothly than I could have imaged. We are all settled now and we are slowly making it a home.
Now an update for the girls! Mia turned 3 years old in February, I still cannot believe she is 3. She is growing up so fast, her speech is amazing and we have her nursery place all ready for her to start at the beginning of May. She will be going for 2 afternoons a week, before starting her full hours in September.
As far as things are going with Mia’s big sister duties, she is doing amazing. She helps wherever she can with Ava and she just absolutely adores her. I was struggling a little bit with trying to divide my attention between them both during the first few weeks. I had serious mum guilt with Mia. But now 3 months in, the fourth trimester has gone and we have settled into a lovely routine.
I am going to share with you our current routine with Ava. It’s nothing crazy and it’s nothing strict. Sometimes she just has to fit in around things. Without that sounding mean, younger siblings just seem to fit in with your routines don’t they?
Ava is bottle fed and she will have on average 5 bottles a day depending on what time she wakes up.
Her first one is usually between 7-8 and it is then every 3 hours throughout the day.
She still has a feed during the night which is usually around 2-3am. The past days she has been a bit unsettled. She has wanted more milk so I am guessing she is going through a growth spurt. She also had her 3 month jabs so she probably hasn’t been feeling too great.
Nap times are still a bit all over the place. She naps when she wants. The time of her nap and duration changes every single day. Some days she may have 3 long naps. Other days she cat naps.
We have also been tracking down Ava’s results for her hip ultrasound. She was referred for one at her 6 week paediatrician check. I found out this week that the results have been lost within the system and we need to be referred for another one! I know, how?! Their concerns was that her hip was not moving as freely as the other so they just wanted to scan it and double check. So if I go to rebook the doctors next week!
I am loving this stage with the girls. I feel like I have fully recovered now. I think I had some form of muscle separation in my abdominal muscles. It has got a lot better over the last few weeks so I’m hoping that it is fixing itself!
So as far as things are going, life with 2 started crazy but I wouldn’t have it any other way. The girls love each other!
