Things To Do In London With The Children…

Whether you are visiting for the day or planning a short break, it’s always best to plan your days especially if you have children in tow.

There is so much to do in London even for the children. It is such a beautiful city with so much to explore. We have recently made a visit to St Ermin’s hotel for their delicious afternoon tea. I love afternoon tea so this was right up my street!

St Ermin’s (Afternoon Tea)

St Ermin’s hotel hosts a beautiful afternoon tea that also caters fantastically for the children. This was one of the best afternoon teas that I have visited. Not only because the place is beautiful. But because of how nice it was for the children also.

Being reasonably priced, in the heart of London and kids themed tea. I knew it was the best place for us to pitch up. When we walked into St Ermin’s the reception area has a double staircase that leads up to the stylish tea lounge. I wanted to visit somewhere that had the traditional afternoon tea setting but was also family friendly. St Ermin’s caters for families with its Kids Gardner themed tea and adults Afternoon Tea Service.

St Ermin’s also caters to a wide variety of dietary restrictions. They have gluten-free options as well as vegetarian. The kids themed tea comes with a range of child-friendly options. They had a choice of 3 sandwiches. Nutella, ham and egg mayonnaise. But as you can imagine, the desserts were dug straight into first! The desserts contained a planting pot which had chocolate and salted caramel mousse inside. A biscuit that children are able to decorate themselves with the given icing pens, and also a mushroom-shaped marshmallow.

Children also receive a grow your own garden kit, which was the perfect little touch for the gardener’s tea. We cannot wait to plant ours at home! We started with tea at our table which we chose to be the St Ermins Breakfast option. Children can also have teas, there is a variety of fruit-based teas for them to try. St Ermin’s also offer an unlimited prosecco option for an additional cost. Both afternoon teas arrived at the same time and the waitress very kindly explained what each thing on our plate was.  We had a lovely selection of sandwiches like cucumber chive and cream cheese, coronation chicken, ham cheddar and pickle, carrot with hummus and prawn with lemon and dill.

The desserts had the same chocolate and salted caramel mousse as the children had. Our other desserts consisted of a peach and apricot mousse, passionfruit and coconut eclair, raspberry rose and vanilla sable and a rhubarb and custard verrine. You can also choose to have your afternoon tea inside, or outside on the terrace. We had ours inside as the weather is currently quite cold. It did not change our experience as the inside has a beautiful setting. During the summer months, I would love to come back and experience the afternoon tea out on the terrace and maybe even give their hotel a try! After the afternoon tea, we went upstairs to visit their Bee’s. St Ermin’s have their own little bee hotel, where the bees work hard making honey which they use in their kitchen. How amazing!

If you are visiting London with the kids, make sure afternoon tea is on your itinerary! St Ermin’s is the perfect family-friendly place to enjoy a luxury English experience.
